Work on a major new shopping area in Stafford promising hundreds of new jobs, is gathering pace and continuing the regeneration of the heart of our county town.
When it opens in 2016, the £70m Riverside retail development delivers a sizeable boost to Staffordshire’s economy.
The private scheme is regenerating the site of the old Riverside Recreation Centre and the former Tesco. It will include 18 retail units over 190,000 sq. ft., including Marks and Spencer, Primark and many more big names. A new multi storey car park will provide over 1,000 spaces with ground floor retail and leisure units facing the river.
In addition, there will be 180 spaces in a sub-basement car park under the Marks and Spencer store.
While short term disruption is inevitable around major developments like this, the contractor is working with the county and borough council to keep it to a minimum.
