Liz and Richard Fuell, from Burton have been foster carers for over twenty years and have looked after 47 foster children.
One person whose life has been turned around by their unconditional love and support is 24-year-old Kay.
Liz and Richard fostered Kay from the age of five and looked after her until she became independent. Growing up in the fuel household Kay was very much part of the family being treated the same as Liz and Richard’s own birth children.
Kay by her own admission was a bit of a handful as a teenager but thanks to Liz and Richard’s continuous love and support they managed to keep her focused on her dream of becoming a teacher.
Kay said: “I don’t think I would be where I am today without Liz and Richard. I wasn’t an easy teenager to live with but they were always there for me, right from the start. And, they are still there for me now.
“Thanks to their support and encouragement I’m now a Teaching Assistant and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve now got a bright future, I love my job and I’m continuing my studies with a Level 3 Diploma in Teaching & Learning in School.”
