[Music Playing: Ready to go by Mtwo – These guys from Tamworth performed at NUE urban arts fest]
New Urban Era, an arts organisation based in Tamworth, approached Staffordshire County Council for support to help them provide a platform for talented artists as well as to engage the community in a variety of urban arts activity in a free outdoor festival Tamworth.
Through the Staffordshire County Council community arts fund, which is open to any group or individual wanting to create a community focused arts project, they were able to launch their urban arts project.
Thousands of people attended the event and were able to see live street art take place with up to 70 artists taking part. Activities included street dance DJ’s, live vocalists, beat boxing, skateboarding, a children’s painting area and graffiti workshop.
World-class street and graffiti artists joined together to paint tunnels near to Tamworth’s skate park based on this year’s theme ‘heroes and villains’ while a whole host of local urban talents performed. They included street dance groups NRG and PYC, DJ collectives- discospex, local skate group – dub skate and local promoters, Aezron, helped organise the music line up.
